In the future, students should learn all nine subjects and take tests before the gaokao, and they can choose any three elective subjects if their scores are satisfactory. Colleges will then admit students on the basis of the scores of the three subjects, as well as their test results in Chinese, math and English.

新高考將實行“文理不分科”，英文表達(dá)是cancel the division of students into different tracks in high school。“文科生”可表達(dá)為students on the liberal-arts track；“理科生”可表達(dá)為students following the science track。

高考總成績將實行“3+3”，由test results in Chinese, math and English（語文、數(shù)學(xué)、英語3科的成績）和考生自主選擇的3個高中學(xué)業(yè)水平考試科目成績組成�？忌�在高考前將參加全部9個文理科目的高中學(xué)業(yè)水平考試，然后從中選擇分?jǐn)?shù)最滿意的3個科目計入高考成績。
