US and India agree mango trade deal

美印結(jié)束17年芒果貿(mào)易爭(zhēng)端
In a symbolic move to boost low levels of Indo-US bilateral trade, the first batch of Indian mangoes are due to arrive in the US this weekend, ending a 17-year old trade dispute between the two countries.
首批印度芒果將于本周末運(yùn)抵美國(guó)，從而結(jié)束兩國(guó)在芒果進(jìn)口問題上長(zhǎng)達(dá)17年之久的貿(mào)易爭(zhēng)端。這項(xiàng)具有象征意義的舉措，旨在促進(jìn)兩國(guó)之間目前處于較低水平的雙邊貿(mào)易。
After months of negotiations, the US has agreed to import Indian mangoes for the first time after clearing concerns about insect importation.
經(jīng)過數(shù)月的談判，在消除印度芒果可能攜帶昆蟲的擔(dān)憂之后，美國(guó)首次同意進(jìn)口印度芒果。
In exchange for mangoes, India is considering relaxing restrictions to allow the import of the Harley-Davidson motorcycles, currently barred from India because of emissions standards and high taxes.
作為出口芒果的交換條件，印度正考慮放寬限制，允許進(jìn)口哈雷-戴維森(Harley-Davidson)摩托車。目前，印度利用排放標(biāo)準(zhǔn)和高稅收等手段，禁止該品牌摩托車的進(jìn)口。
This mango-for-motorcycles diplomacy reflects efforts to double bilateral trade between India and the US within the next three years from about $30bn currently. By comparison, trade between the US and China amounts to about $350bn.
這一“芒果換摩托車”的外交策略反映出，印度與美國(guó)試圖在未來3年內(nèi)將雙邊貿(mào)易額提高一倍。目前，印度與美國(guó)的貿(mào)易額約為300億美元，而美國(guó)與中國(guó)的貿(mào)易額約為3500億美元。
