“調(diào)休”的字面意思就是“調(diào)換休息時間”，特指“原定休假的時間不休息而調(diào)換到另外的時間再休息”，那么在英文中就可翻譯為change one's shift to get leave later。

“短假”英語怎么說？
“短期休假”是指歷時很短的假期，一般就是指兩三天的短假，在英文中就可用mini-break來表示。
例句：
Winners of the competition will win a three-night mini-break in Paris.
比賽的獲勝者將獲得在巴黎為期三晚的短期休假。
My three-day winter mini-break began on Friday with an evening flight from Heathrow.
我為期三天的冬季短假自周五晚上從希思羅機場起飛開始。
“請假”英語怎么說？
ask for/ request a leave
leave在這里不是“離開”的意思，而是指“休假”。如果請假不止一天，還可以說ask for two days' leave指“請兩天的假”。
例句：
I have to ask for a leave tomorrow morning.
我明天上午得請假了。
“假條”我們可以說：leave of absence letter。
call in sick
sick作形容詞有“惡心的；生病的”等意思，如果你病得難受想請假，那么可以用call in sick這個短語，它在《麥克米倫高階英漢雙解詞典》中的英文釋義是：to phone someone at the place where you work to tell them you are too ill to work，表示“打電話（到單位）請病假”。
例句：
I don't feel well this morning. Perhaps I ought to call in sick.

pull/ throw a sickie
還有一種叫做裝病請假。sickie在俚語里指“病假”，但是throw/ pull a sickie意思則是“裝病請假”。雖然今天學會了怎么說，但是可不提倡大家這么做�。�
